She's the one (sway)
Stories
Michael stood motionless, his face falling stunned. "I'm telling you, she's the one!" Michael said. "I'm in love!"
"Uh-huh?" Tom replied. "Tell me about it."
"No other woman has ever stunned me like her!" He took his pack of tobacco from his work desk. "I mean, I met her at the bar when she was flaunting her mesmerizing red attire and her ivory necklace, and it was only one date, but I've never met a woman that I could really talk to before, wow."
"Nice stuff," Tom said. "They called her Paige," Michael said, rolling the tobacco on the paper and lighting a smoke. He offered the pack to Tom who shook his head in reluctance. "Don't get me wrong, there were other people too, but she has this way with me, y'know?"
"Yeah, get the idea."
"I approached her when she started talking about the Beatles with the bartender-" He took a pause. "You know the Beatles, right?"
"Of course."
"All right. Anyway, she's an ardent Beatles fan. Attends their concerts, buys expensive vinyl, that sort of fan. But she's not like other people there." He took a quick drag from his tobacco. "She is not basic like other people. She actually understands and appreciates the music revolution. Not some basic halfwit who likes them because of their long hair or thinks they're cute. I mean, how rare is that?"
"You don't see that every day," Tom agrees in sway.
Michael grins. "I asked her out. On the very same night. I'm guarded, I'd never do that. But somehow I knew I just had to. And she said yes!"
"Where did you guys go?"
"I didn't have money on me since I spent it all on the rum, but I took her to the lake-side for stargazing. We laughed, talked Beatles, I could've sat there for the entire night."
"Sounds like someone's smitten," Tom said.
"That'd be an understatement. I'm in love with her! I'm going to marry her! She's the one!"
"Woah, that's pretty fast," Tom said. "You met her a week ago, and you've only had one date."
"That's all it took for me." Michael shrugged. "I can't wait for this weekend. We'll attend the Beatles concert. A proper date with a longer outing. I've got it all planned out. And we could go to an expensive restaurant for dinner too."
"Sounds good."
"You know what's held me captive? Her eyes."
"Oh yeah?"
"It's like.. an incredible galaxy of thoughts hiding behind her gentle, beautiful eyes. Just sitting quietly, waiting to be seen. And I see it, I really do."
"You should tell her that."
"Bet I will! Definitely!" he took a long puff of his tobacco and stood. "I need to pee." Tom gestured behind the alley.
"I think I should start the dinner with salads and candlelight," Michael's voice echoed inside the washroom. "Or maybe an appetizer, think that's a good start?"
"You're not going to talk to me while you're actually peeing, right?" Tom replied with a sigh.
"It's a good opener though," Michael continued. "Maybe we could go stargazing again, it's all about the little things that count. She really is pretty cute, y'know?"
"Pretty sure she is," Tom said. "But I guess you can tell me more about it once you're done with your business inside."
"I'll be out near the front door," Tom said while strolling outside.
After a few minutes of silence, Michael started screeching "Wait, what is an old man doing here?"
Tom scrambled and darted inside.
"Who are you? Do you need help?" Michael asked the old man.
Tom grabbed Michael's arm and said "Come on. This way."
"There's an old man here!" Michael said, gesturing to the man. "Aren't you curious how he got inside?"
"Come away from the mirror, Dad," Tom said, pulling him out of the washroom.
"What?"
"Why don't you tell me more about Mom."
"Who's mom?"
"Paige," Tom said. "Tell me more about her."
Michael stood motionless, his face falling stunned. Then he smiled. "I'm telling you, she's the one!" he said. "I'm in love!"
"Uh-huh?" Tom said. "Tell me about it."
